Hi! I’m Andrea and I’m Farm Girl. Okay, well, that’s a little bit misleading. I’m only really a Farm Girl by marriage. Now, don’t get me wrong; I grew up in a small town in Wisconsin, so I have a lot of those “farm girl” characteristics. I can drive 65 miles per hour in a raging blizzard without batting an eyelash, my first alcoholic beverage (besides church wine) was downed while I was standing in a field behind a friend’s house and I even use the word “uff-da” every now and then. But, I beg the point that this is just a regular up-bringing in the beautiful Dairy State. I didn’t become Farm Girl until my last year in college when I met the strapping, masculine Farm Boy. Now he is real Farm Boy. He grew up on a dairy farm and developed a real farmer’s tan (and farmer’s muscles) by baling hay, picking rock and driving tractors. He swept me off my feet and we’ve been married for four years now.
Here’s a picture of me:
Okay. That’s not really me, but it could be…if I wore off-the-shoulder flowing white shirts and a checkered skirt…and dangled my feet in serene ponds…and had legs up to my armpits. Yeah…well…here’s what I really look like:
I’m teaching my niece and nephew how to do the “Rock On!” sign a la KISS. Farm Boy and I don’t have our own children, so we like to corrupt other’s offspring. Here’s a picture of Farm Boy in all of his scruffy, dirty glory:
He’s teaching his younger brother (yes, I said brother) to drive a tractor. Hmm…some of us are more productive with the younger generation than others, aren’t we?
We also have two cats. Here they are:
Their names are Frankie and Sammie, after a couple members of the Rat Pack. After I’ve had a few drinks, I call these two “The Cat Pack” (again, that’s with impaired judgement, mind you.) We also have some cows:
They’re an interesting bunch.
Now, a bit of a warning: as you look through the blog, you’ll probably notice that a lot of the posts are recipes. I love to cook and bake. Unfortunately, I love to eat also. Eventually, this caught up with me and I decided I had to kind of…reign in that habit. So I joined Weight Watchers a few years back. Since then, I’ve learned to cook in a (mostly) healthy manner. The majority of these recipes are Weight Watcher friendly, but seriously, you gotta have fun sometimes. So, some of the recipes are just friendly…if you know what I mean. For me, cooking is like therapy. One day, Farm Boy came home to find me baking cookies, making Chex Mix, chopping a salad and stirring soup. He took a look around the kitchen, turned to me and said, “Bad day?”
So, pull up a laptop, have a cup of coffee and welcome to the world of Farm Girl.

Farmgirl, I have been craving potato and corn chower lately….any recipes for that?

Ooh…Abbers, that’s a good idea! I even have some fresh corn on the cob that I just bought today! Hmm…I’ll think about it and see what I can do.

I have a favor to ask … Our scooter club is planning a trip to Wisconsin and I need a picture of some wholesome Wisconsin cows for our poster. Any chance you’d be willing to let me use the above photo of your cows?
Thanks!

lol. I’ve gotta say, I’ve never been asked for a picture of my cows before! Yes, use the picture with my blessing. Spread the word of happy Wisconsin cows! (The whole California thing is just a rumor.) Hope you enjoy the trip! =)
